A new Level 4 has arrived, with Early Bird savings to help you get started
September 2026 marked the official launch of the new AAT Level 4 Diploma for Professional Accounting Technicians (PAT), replacing the previous Level 4 qualification for new registrations. Learners can now enrol and begin their studies with Accountancy Learning, and to celebrate the launch we extended our Early Bird offer until Sunday 6 September, with savings of up to £150 available across our study packages.
A new chapter for AAT Level 4
After plenty of preparation and a fair bit of talking about what was coming, the new AAT Level 4 Diploma for Professional Accounting Technicians officially arrived on 1 September 2026.
The previous AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting closed to new registrations on 31 August, with the new PAT qualification taking its place from the following day. Existing students can continue with the previous qualification, so there’s no need to worry if you’re already part-way through your studies.
For anyone starting Level 4 now, however, PAT is the new route forward.
The qualification has been developed with employers and training providers to reflect the skills increasingly needed in modern finance roles. It includes five mandatory areas: Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Audit and Internal Controls, Principles of Taxation and Advanced Business Awareness.
It also brings some significant changes to the way learners are assessed, including fully computer-marked assessments, faster results and a greater emphasis on practical, workplace-focused learning.

We extended our Early Bird savings
Ahead of the launch, we introduced an Early Bird offer for anyone ready to take their next step with Level 4.
It was originally due to finish at the end of August, but after a great response and a few requests for a little more time, we decided to extend it for one final week.
So, until midnight on Sunday 6 September, you can still enrol and save:
- Self-Study EXTRA – £449, saving £50
- Tutor Supported – £1,099, saving £150
- Tutor Supported PLUS – £2,349, saving £150
