FMAAT

AAT Tutor

I’m returning to the learning environment after a 9 year gap.. I taught AAT and A Level accounting spanning 6 years mainly at one large south west college… I’ve never lost my passion to teach so I am looking forward to enabling young people to achieve dreams or at least play with numbers.

I fell into teaching by chance through my knowledge of Sage Accounts, transferring my skills to students on the Computerised Accounting unit. Having to explain the automatic double entry that computerised accounts packages deal with and giving students experience of using actual accounting records made the numbers live and demonstrated how ledger’s interact.

Being a firm believer in making learning real, I was recently involved in a project where young people gained qualifications from using practical building, electrical and carpentry skills to convert a space for use as a place where youngsters can meet their friends safely and in a warm and dry environment. Being involved in a team helping youngsters achieve for youngsters, was hugely satisfying.

We have two tall sons, both who are now in the world of work having completed degrees, my husband and I enjoy travelling and my other enjoyment is patchwork and quilting, cutting up fabric to sew it up again!!

My Motto:

Smiling is infectious, make sure you catch the bug.
