MSc MAAT

AAT Tutor

I grew up in Penzance and am a proud Cornishman. After college, I worked in a leisure centre as a gym instructor and deliverer of first aid courses. With a natural ability for mathematics and a love for teaching, I started 1:1 tutoring in my spare time, and this has carried on ever since. I moved to Devon to study Mathematics at Plymouth University, with a view to teaching in a school. After going through the training, I decided to work in the outdoors industry and after further training courses, taught climbing indoors and out, as well as taking groups hiking on Dartmoor.

Sadly, a minor injury meant that working in the outdoors might not be the best long-term plan, so in 2020, I decided to take AAT Levels 2 and 3 to work towards a career in accounting and tax. I worked for a couple of local firms in Personal Tax and completed my apprenticeship with Accountancy Learning for AAT Level 4 in 2023, they were extremely helpful and all so nice! When the AAT Tutor role came up, I knew it would be a perfect fit for me and my work and life experience to this point.

Outside of work I chase around after my toddler, and any spare time, I like to run on the South West Coast Path, on occasion 50 – 100 miles at a time!
