Star Student January 2025: Jonathan Badger

Personal Tutor: Ryan

Having no idea what I wanted to do as a career, I made the decision to take the Level 2 course in my spare time and came to the realisation that this was the path I wanted to take.

On completion of my Level 2 I was eager to kick on and knew that I wished to continue with my qualifications all the way to chartered and I was fortunate enough to move to my current employers, Synertec Ltd, who have given me the opportunity to complete the Level 3 apprenticeship alongside my full time employment for which I am extremely grateful.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my studies and to achieve an overall Distinction across both my Diploma and End Point Assessments is more than I could have ever expected when starting my studies but I am so pleased that the hard work has paid off.

I must extend my thanks and appreciation to my tutor Ryan for all his encouragement and support throughout my journey and pushing me to achieve the Distinction level.

I hope now after a short study break to progress on to the Level 4 apprenticeship and am excited for my future prospects in the world of accounting.

Personal Tutor comments:

Jonathan has achieved a level 3 distinction, although he is very capable he achieved this through hard work.  He always did everything I asked of him and found Business Awareness a real challenge, particularly the written questions.  However he worked with me over a few weeks to practice them until he was able to answer these to a good standard.  His achievements include passing FAPS with 97% (despite never having worked in practice) and 99% in the synoptic.

He also worked on his portfolio diligently, regularly providing high quality reflections and evidence in a timely manner.

His achievement is all the more impressive because he has a young child and he works in a credit control role, although I am sure he will be the first to say his employer has been supportive and has endeavoured to provide wider exposure.

He has always been very polite and friendly during our meetings; I hope I have the opportunity to work with him on level 4.
