Before I pursued a career in accountancy, I worked at John Lewis and Partners for almost four years. While I appreciated the experience and skills I gained in sales and customer service, I realised that it wasn’t a career I could envision for the long term. This motivated me to explore other career paths, which led me to discover the AAT. I chose to study the Level 2 Certificate in my spare time, successfully completing it in just under a year.
With this accomplishment behind me, I was eager to apply and expand my knowledge in the real world and was delighted to be accepted into the Level 3 Apprenticeship at the Greater London Authority.
My 18-month journey has been an incredible experience. I’ve had the unique opportunity to work in various teams across finance including Technical Accounting, Management Accounting and Group Finance. This exposure has given me a comprehensive understanding of how finance operates, and I’ve gained a lot of skills and confidence along the way.
I ended my journey on a high, achieving Distinction in my Level 3 Diploma with an overall score of 95%. I also achieved Distinctions in both my Synoptic Exam and Professional Discussion for my end-point assessment.
I must give credit to Clare who was my tutor for most of my apprenticeship before sadly leaving Accountancy Learning. Clare was really supportive and always at hand to answer my queries, no matter how small or trivial. If you’re reading this Clare, I owe you a huge thank you! I also want to extend my appreciation to Sarah, my new tutor whom I’ve worked with for the last few months. Sarah has been brilliant in keeping me on track with essential tasks I need to complete. She was also instrumental in helping me achieve the result I desired in my end-point assessment.
I am now progressing to the Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship, where I look forward to growing and developing as a finance professional
