MAAT

AAT Tutor

After completing my A-Level’s I went out to work and over the course of the next 10 years I had a range of jobs, within the retail sector and later on working in administration. It was in 2015 when working for a charity I am deeply passionate about, I decided that I needed to challenge myself and find a new path. It was here I went to college in the evenings to do my AAT Level 2, which I really enjoyed. I then home-studied AAT Level 3 so I could go back to college in September to start Level 4 one evening a week at college. I qualified in 2017 and since then had a few finance roles which has given me wide ranging finance experience

As much as I’ve loved working in finance, there was still something missing – my dream to teach still hadn’t been fulfilled. I have always wanted to teach, even during my A-Level’s I volunteered in an infants school twice a week. Then in my adult life I’ve been both Tawny Owl & Brown Owl at two Brownies units, and I always find myself being the nominated trainer in my workplaces. So, after finding AAT, I realised I’d found what I wanted to teach and went out to live my dream. I am thrilled to be working at Accountancy Learning to achieve my dream, but my ultimate goal is to support students in a way they find beneficial. I believe in three things:

  1. There is no one size fits all approach to studying or teaching
  2. There are no stupid questions
  3. Mistakes are the foundations we build on to achieve our goals

Personally, I’m married with 2 stepchildren and a bouncy red setter! I love eating shortbread, I do a bit of baking here & there, attend Pilates classes weekly and enjoy doing some crochet … when I find the time!

My Motto:

As said by Albert Einstein – “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid”
