After returning to the UK from China, where I had been working as a teaching assistant, I soon started working at Accountancy Plus Training. Nearly a year later, in 2011, when Accountancy Learning was formed, I moved across to become one of the first members of the Accountancy Learning team. During my time at Accountancy Learning, I achieved my AAT qualification and Assessors award alongside enjoying a varied role; which included, among other things; providing tutor support, marking and assessing work, office management, company accounts and building/maintaining the Moodle site.
Unfortunately, I had to step back from work after a serious accident at home, followed by a long recuperation. After several years, I was able to re-join the workforce as an Account Manager for a holiday lettings agency, where I enjoyed utilising many of the skills, I had developed during my time at Accountancy Learning. But alas, the world of accountancy kept calling out to me, and in 2023, I could no longer resist so officially came back to the Accountancy Learning team to support the tutors and to help develop learning materials.
In my spare time I enjoy wild swimming, exploring the moors and attempting to grow vegetables in the garden. I have recently been trying my hand to magnet fishing and going out with the metal detector, which has proved very fruitful; so far I’ve found a screw, a nail and 2 whole pence! I also love to curl up with a good book and my lovely cats.
My Motto:
Be yourself – everyone else is already taken!
